Who are we ?

We are lesbians or gay-friendly women, over 18 years old, who go hiking every Sunday and some Saturdays or bank holidays as well, in the Ile de France region.

Founded by a group of friends in 1984, the organization now claims over 200 members and we will celebrate our 25th anniversary in 2009. Our hikes and other activities are led by volunteers.

The organization's activities include :

• hikes in the Ile de France region every Sunday,
• a party for members and friends once a year,
• several shared picnics with games: Christmas, Bastille Day...

• week-ends or week-long events which combine hiking and such other activities as dancing, map reading and using a compass, as well as gastronomical experiences (e.g. in the Perigord, Cantal, or Scotland)
• cultural activities : movies, visiting châteaux, museums, exhibitions or artists' workshops
• biking, going to restaurants and the swimming pool.

• hiking with our male and female friends from Rando's Ile de France group twice a year.

When, where and how ?

A hiking event is organized every Sunday in the Ile de France region.

All members receive a printed programme three times a year, every four months, detailing the forthcoming hikes, outings or visits.

Hikes vary in terms of speed (1, 2, 3 "shoes") and distance (10 to 30 kms). These two givens are to be considered separately. For instance, a 15 km three-shoe hike with few stops will be very fast and not for everyone, while a 23 km one-shoe hike with several stops will be accessible to all.

Sunday hikes or other activities are announced on the preceding Thursday morning at the latest. Information about activities planned by other organizations may also be given. You can hike with us twice without being a member.

Membership:

To join "Les Bénines d'Apie or to renew your membership, just print the membership form and send it to the address provided with a check for 16 euros made out to "Les Bénines d'Apie". This yearly fee includes insurance coverage.
